Here's an interesting thing i learned about maniquins: they fit almost anywhere. And bubbles stop them from falling. Curious? Click above- and click and drag the maniquin when she gets stuck, help her out.

The Delta State

Ah The Delta State. I am really finding myself drawn into this fine show.

Why? Glad you asked.
  • Always been a fan of rotoscoped animation. For those unaware of what this means, actors are filmed playing out the scenes and then drawn, painted, computer pixeled over for super realistic movements.
  • The story is oddly seductive. Each episode they drop a hint that is picked up in a later episode. They find a photo or something that triggers off events 3 episodes down the line. Most shows are too afraid this kind of thing makes it hard to enter a show if you haven't seen all the episodes, but i'm a big fan of doing things this way.
  • Lots of mystery that goes with amnesiacs- a kind of wolverine origin thing thrown in the mix.
  • The kids are on a quest, they actually get closer, and they get there in the end, after 24 episodes. None of this endless wondering melarky. The hints they seed and pick up later let you know the writers aren't making it up as they go along....
  • Grown up (almost) cartoons. Always good.
  • Good character development. Well, as developed 4 amnesiacs can be.
  • And finally, lets face it... the girls are kinda hot.
The plot, in a nutshell: There's an alien invasion happening. But not War of the Worlds style, more Invasion of the Body Snatchers style. A parelel dimension, known as the Delta State is home to these naughty spirit fellows called Rifters. When people sleep, go into comas, whatever, they can take over their bodies, while their real self gets stuck in the Delta State.

Who is aware of this? Who can stop it???? That's where our 20 something heros come in. 4 20ish kids, 2 guys, 2 girls live together in an apartment. They have abilities, all of them- Red haired Luna can see the future. Claire can project herself to look around any area just by looking at a photo or video of an object. Phil can pick up visions from objects about whoever touched the objects. Martin can read minds. When 2 or more of them wish to, they can cross over to the delta state, leaving their sleeping bodies behind. Did i mention they know nothing of their past? To guide them is the mysterious professor Brody, a shadowy leader and guidence figure, a sort of yoda with a much darker past.

Weeknights, 10:30 on Teletune. We're getting closer to finding out about Brody's past....

This one's for my buddy Keith. It's always interesting to drive around Belfast and note the murals painted around there by those who just can't forget the troubles. Just about every irish person you meet are the happiest, carefree people on the planet and just want to move on. But the hardliners are still out there. Anyhow, their murals are always fascinating, each side outdoing the other.

What's the best movie you've seen lately?

If you're like me, you like films that you can chew on. Stuff that is not like anything you've seen before. Stuff you have to see 3 times before it starts making real sense. Stuff you need a flow chart to make proper heads or tails of.

If that's your kind of film, may I reccomend PRIMER. Hard to find, yes. But do find it- if you enjoyed Memento, you'll like this. It's even more complicated- but that's ok!

Still curious? Read Roger Ebert's $0.02 on the film.

Speaking of Memento, Chris Nolan's Batman Begins is also very enjoyable!! We caught it Friday, and my wife loved it, and I very much enjoyed it. It must take real skill to create believable scenario-- a man would run around a city in tights and defend it from naughty people - It kind of turns the Batman mythology on it's head, but it sticks to the true principles. After Spiderman was so successful, I wondered if all super-guy movies would be in that mold- fortunately not! Not that there's anything wrong with spidey, just Batman in a Spidey style would be so wrong....

It's been a long time since the Russians have done cooler stuff than the US in space. But taking a page out of count Dokou's book comes this- a space ship that propels itself by solar winds, a space sailing vessel.

No mess, no hassle, no fuel to worry about.

Except of course, Space Pirates.

I really have only one question about these bikes --- where can i get one??

Man, I remember when Darth Vader was the scariest, evilest thing that a child could conceive. Now.... he seems cuddlier than an ewok!

He makes buisness deals with M&M, Orange Mobile, goes on wheel of fortune, rollercoasters, and thanks to burger king, will tell you if you are thinking of a donkey. Who is this guy's agent? He'll be on Hollywood Squares soon!

But i can't help but reccomend seeing his commercial for Target Supermarket. Clearly, Vader must make inroads to get his produce- he has to feed an entire space station. Upon seeing Heidi Klum, i think he feels a tremor in the force.

BAITCAR.COM is a website set up by the police. Essentially they leave cars in areas that they know car theives work in. The cars are fitted with cameras, GPS's, and remote engine stopping. Well, they've posted some of their videos up on the internet, and they are very interesting to watch.

I still can't help feeling really sorry for these kids. Especially the one who goes "ohhh nooooo oh nooooo" all the time.... that's probably the bleeding heart liberal inside me.

I saw signs noting that bait cars had been planted at LimeRidge Mall - this is very interesting!!

Anyhow, as you can imagine, car theives get very colourful with their expletives when they see police cars chasing them, so you might not want to play this with sound at work.... you've been warned!!

There are a number of strange things about this burglary.
  1. What kind of burgalar stops burgling to watch Karate Kid II, try on outfits, and check out hot tub??
  2. That sure is one well armed pastor! Rifles, a pistol - no wonder Christianity has some strange reputations! I'm not sure that's the kind of message Jesus had in mind.

And my hero of the day is.... Oscar Pistorius. This South African athlete is a double amputee who is really close to qualifying for the olympics. Not the para or disabled olympics, the real olympics. Some people aren't happy about that, and you can read why in by clicking on the article above, and weigh in on the comments below.

Uh..... what the heck is going on here? Some dodgy bearded bloke in a bearsuit collects children. The yellow guy freaks em out. You get enough kids, you take your mask off and.... freak em out. What? Do the japanese find this entertaining? Click on the above to give it a go.

Wow. The "National Conservative Weekly" has posted thier "Ten Most Harmful Books of the 19th and 20th Centuries". Not much commentary is needed here, these powerful books start with "Mein Kempf" and somehow work their way to "The Feminine Mystique". An obvious collection of Nazi's, Commies, and Feminists!! Oh Noes!
